Family entertainment centres explained.
A family entertainment centre (FEC) is an indoor leisure venue for all ages: short games, immediate fun and no reservation required.
Unlike a single-attraction venue, an FEC combines several formats in one area: arcade video games, racing and motion simulators, skill and prize machines, sports games such as air hockey and basketball, plus gentle rides for younger children.
Inside shopping centres the format works particularly well, because visitors are already on site. Families can split up, spend time separately and meet again – which extends the overall visit.
ActionZone has been operating this format in Germany since 1997 and today runs 16 locations with around 380 machines.
